DAFITC wrapping up three-day conference in the Capital City
The Department of the Air Force Information Technology and Cyberpower Event is starting to wrap up in the Capital City.
The three-day conference started on August 26 and ends today in downtown Montgomery.
This year’s theme, Reoptimizing IT & Cyber: Posturing the DAF for Great Power Competition, the conference tackled the ever-changing ways in which big data and emerging cyber technologies are reshaping the landscape in which we live.
“Montgomery has a rich history of defense and innovation,” said TechMGM Executive Director Charisse Stokes. “It started as a small computer conference, where they were initially looking at computers, what is the Air Force going to buy and now we’re doing everything from infrastructure to so much from a broadband perspective.”
As part of DAFITC, the conference held their annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon at Ravello Ristorante.
Senior government and industry female executives shared strategies for excelling in leadership and advancing careers while balancing professional and family lives.
“Sometimes when you’re in a space like this,” Keysha Webb, Women Leadership Luncheon moderator. “You can get a quick conversation or a lesson learned, right? We had some talk today about being a global citizen, what it means to partnership with others, being in a public-private partnership and so hopefully they can get some tidbits of information from our panelist and take that and apply it to their everyday life.”
Some of the speakers included Venice Goodwine, CIO, Department of the Air Force and Alexis Bonnell, CIO, Air Force Research Lab.
