Hot & Humid With Isolated Showers or T-storms
We’re setting up for a hot and humid Labor Day holiday period. Humidity levels will be on the rise and you will notice it as temps climb into the mid to upper 90s. We expect heat indices to reach 100 to 105.  Fortunately, there’s some heat relief ahead as a frontal system moves into the area early next week. Our rain chances will increase and that will help combat the heat.
For now, the driving force controlling our weather is a ridge of high pressure. It’s lining up a southeasterly wind flow and this will be the path isolated showers or t-storms take entering the area. It’s a southeast to northwest movement of the rain activity. Any storms that do develop will be capable of a heavy downpour, frequent lightning, and gusty winds.  Where rain doesn’t occur, the heat will be the issue. Temps will manage mid 90s for highs but it will feel more like 100 to 105 with the heat index. We expect this setup to continue throughout the weekend.
Early next week, a frontal system will dip southward into the state. As a result, scattered showers and t-storm coverage will expand and could have some impact on your outdoor plans, especially Monday. The front will hover over the area into mid week. Clouds and more rain will impact the area and that’s going to help bring temps down a bit. High temps will retreat into the mid to upper 80s Wednesday through the latter half of that week.
Down at the coast, we don’t see any tropical issues developing in the gulf through the weekend. It’s looking like scattered showers and t-storms during the afternoon hours. Temps will topout in the lower 90s. Gulf water temps are sitting in the mid 80s.
