Pay It Forward: Shewana Stewart of Montgomery
Shewana Stewart is the librarian and reading intervention specialist at Morningview Elementary School. And you can find her in other places around the school as well.
“Anything that needs to be done. I do duty in the lunchroom. We’re sweeping and cleaning every morning. Anything that needs to be done for the students,” said Stewart.
Shewana was nominated by her daughter for all that she does.
“Since we’ve been growing up, my mom has always been in the school system. She has always been working for MPS. She’s been doing it for 17 years and she loves it. She even does homebound and after class and stuff like that. She works during the summer, too, so she loves it. I can tell she has a heart for it,” said Lindsey Stewart.
“She stays late. She comes early. Even though she works with children in the library, she also goes above and beyond to work with them other places in the school as well,” said principal Kenyetta Miller.
