Selma City School Board names interim superintendent
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
The Selma City School Board has named an interim school superintendent. And the search for a permanent superintendent — is officially underway.
Board President Johnny Moss says Darryl Aikerson will begin handling the day to day operations of the school district — starting October 1st.
Aikerson is retired — and brings with him six years of experience as a superintendent. He lead the Tuscumbia City School District from 2015 to 2021.
“The next steps are a series of community engagement opportunities where our students, our faculty, our community stakeholders, families and then all citizens of Selma will be urged to attend and take part in this process,” said School Board President Johnny Moss III.
The last day for current superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd — is September 30th.
