3 arrested in Prattville police chase that ends in Montgomery

PrattvillePrattville police have arrested three people following a police chase that ended in Montgomery.

Police Chief Mark Thompson said on September 3, investigators received a report of the suspects gaining access to a Guardian Credit Union member’s credit card information and created a fraudulent debit card to access the victim’s account. By doing so, they withdrew $190,250, which included withdraws from Prattville and Montgomery locations.

On September 6, a second victim reported the same incident which included the same suspects withdrawing $73 from her account on September 1.

On September 9, Prattville officers made contact with the suspects, Eric Kendrie Shuler, Matthew Tizlam Bey and Kyara Ivelisse Rosario-Berenguer, as they were at the Guardian Credit Union on Main Street in Prattville.

Chief Thompson said the suspects were in the process of withdrawing money from multiple accounts.

The suspects then attempted to flee the area and a vehicle pursuit ensued, which ended on the Perry Hill Road exit in Montgomery when the suspect’s vehicle wrecked.

Upon contact with the suspects, Shuler began resisting arrest which resulted in an injury to a Prattville PD officer.

Once the suspects were identified, it was determined Eric Shuler is from Brooklyn, NY, Matthew Bey is from Brooklyn, NY, and Kyara Rosario-Berenguer is from Reading, PA.

The three suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Autauga County Metro Jail where they were placed on an investigative hold until all charges could be determined.

The investigation is ongoing.
