23millbrookA Millbrook teenager is in custody for shooting into an occupied home.

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson tells Action 8 News that around 8:52 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area of Tanglewood Court.

Once they arrived, they found shell casings in the area.

Witnesses told officers that there were multiple individuals at a home near the cul-de-sac prior to shots being fired.

Officers were approached by an area resident, who stated that he was inside his home when he heard multiple gunshots. Shortly thereafter the homeowner discovered that his home had damage consistent with a projectile entering a window of the house.

Investigators determined that the round entered the front of the victim’s home,  travelling through a bedroom and exited the rear of the home.

Chief Johnson said no one was injured in the incident.

While searching the area, officers located an abandoned firearm behind a nearby home. The weapon was impounded as possible physical evidence in this case.

On Tuesday, Chief Johnson said Millbrook detectives took a 17-year-old juvenile male into custody.

The unidentified suspect is charged with Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling.

The juvenile was taken to the Elmore County Jail.
