Impacts From Francine Ahead For Wednesday Night Into Thursday
Our weather is looking quiet through at least early Wednesday but after that we’re experiencing some impacts from T.S. Francine through Friday. Rain and gusty winds are likely and there could be a severe storm threat as well. This is something we will be monitoring over the next few days.
In the meantime, we’re in a quiet weather setup and expecting uneventful conditions tonight and most of Wednesday. We’re looking at a cloudy sky with temps in the 70s overnight. Wednesday is setting up to be cloudy and breezy with a occasional showers passing through the area. Winds will reach 8 to 16 mph with gust up to 25 mph. Temps will only manage the the mid to upper 70s for afternoon highs.
Impacts from Francine will come into play starting Wednesday evening and continuing into early Friday. The tropical system will make landfall along the Louisiana coast Wednesday afternoon. As it moves inland, we will be on the eastern side of the track and that puts us in the area where strong to severe storms typically occur. The higher threats will be mainly west of the I-65 corridor. This is where wind gust could reach 30-40 mph. Rainfall amounts between 2 to 3 inches and possibly higher in spots. We will also have to mention the potential for some quick spin up tornadoes embedded in tropical bands swinging across the area.
We settle back into a quieter weather pattern over the upcoming weekend. There will be some sunshine around along with a isolated showers or possibly t-storms. Temps will reach the mid to upper 80s for highs and overnight lows in the upper 60s.
