New book tells story of former Selma mayor George Evans

The Selma-Dallas County Public Library hosted a book-signing for a new book about the life and leadership of former Selma Mayor George Evans.

The book is entitled — Selma’s Mayor, Lessons Learned from the Queen City’s Native Son.

Minneapolis author Jenney Egertson wrote the book.

The memoir shares the wisdom that guided Evans on his journey through a life of leadership.

“He wanted people to see how a boy who never aspired to be a leader wound up being one, by just saying yes to the opportunities to help others that came his way,” said Egertson.
