Two people arrested on drug, child endangerment charges in Lee County

Two people have been arrested in Lee County on a list of charges, including drug trafficking and child endangerment.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says at about 6AM today, a drug search warrant was carried out at a home in the 600 block of Lee County Road 293 in Smiths Station.

Investigators say that led to the arrests of 48-year-old Kenneth Byron Halsey and 30-year-old Kacee Jo Pruitt, both of Smiths Station.

The sheriff’s office says during the search, approximately 869 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three guns were recovered.

In addition, investigators say a nine-month-old baby was present and was placed in the custody of the Alabama Department of Human Resources.

Halsey and Pruitt are charged with trafficking methamphetamine, chemical endangerment of a child, possession of marijuana in the second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both are being held in the Lee County Jail on $56,000 bond each.
