Selma murder victim’s sister seeks justice in his death
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A Selma woman is speaking out about a court system that she says is lacking in speed and fairness to the families of murder victims.
Five years ago, Virginia Minniefield’s 58 year old brother Joseph was killed by his girlfriend’s 24 year old son — over a dog.
Both mother and son were charged in the case.
But Minniefield doesn’t think the punishment handed down by the court — fits their crime.
Shakeem Butler was sentenced to 5 years and his mother Shana Muldrow was sentenced to 18 months.
“Anybody that’s got a child, somebody done killed sister or brother, they don’t want to see nobody walking around in 5 years when they can’t see their loved one,” Minniefield said.
