Looking Cloudy & Damp Late Week
We have at least one more day of summer-like warmth this week. We’re expecting lots of sunshine along with temps warming into the mid to upper 80s for highs Thursday afternoon. looks like moisture will begin streaming into our southern counties Thursday evening and we need to introduce a chance for showers over South Alabama. The rest of our area will remain rainfree until Friday. We will carry a better chance for showers/t-storms areawide Friday. Clouds and rain activity will cut into the warmth we’ve felt the last several days. We expect temps to only manage upper 70s to lower 80s for highs Friday afternoon.
We continue to watch the Gulf of Mexico with interest. The NHC has an area marked for tropical development over the Northern Caribbean and Southern Gulf. This could potentially have an impact on our weather. Right now, model data showing it rather messy out over the gulf through the weekend into early next week. A tropical cyclone could form at some point but it would be a rather slow process. Most indications are for the cyclone to move eastward and impact the peninsula of Florida. There still seems to be a lot of uncertainty at this point. It’s just something we will need to monitor.
