Umbrella Alert For Friday

Looks like moisture will be streaming into our southern counties tonight and that will lead to some overnight rain.  The rest of our area will begin to see rain early Friday morning.   We will carry a better chance for showers and possibly t-storms areawide Friday.  Clouds and rain activity will cut into the warmth we’ve felt the last several days.  We expect temps to only manage upper 70s to lower 80s for highs Friday afternoon.

The weekend is looking fairly nice with partly sunny skies and temps climbing into the mid 80s for highs.  An isolated shower is still possible but we’re thinking most locations remain rainfree.  It should be decent conditions for any outdoor plans both days.

We continue to watch the Gulf of Mexico with interest.  The NHC has an area marked for tropical development over the Northern Caribbean and Southern Gulf.    Right now, model data showing it rather messy out over the gulf through the weekend into early next week.  A tropical cyclone could form at some point but it would be a rather slow process.  Most indications are for the cyclone to move eastward and impact the peninsula of Florida. There still seems to be a lot of uncertainty at this point.   It’s just something we will need to monitor.

Next week: a frontal boundary moves through the area Monday night into early Tuesday.  Moisture will be limited and all indications are the front passes through dry.  High pressure takes over behind the frontal passage.  This means abundant sunshine along with slightly cooler air.  Daytime highs will hover around 80 degrees but overnight temps will fall into the mid to upper 50s towards the mid and later half of the week.  We’re thinking this will be our first real taste of fall conditions.
