No shots fired in incident on Troy University’s campus

One person is in custody following an incident on the campus of Troy University.

Troy University police received a call Saturday morning regarding a person with a gun in the area of Newman Hall.

Officials say they immediately ordered a shelter-in-place alert on campus at 11:13 a.m.

After a thorough investigation of the residence hall and nearby buildings, University Police say they found no evidence of a threat to campus.

Police also say no shots were fired and no one was injured.

During this time, police also received a report of a suspicious person around the Lagoon area.

After police arrived, they took an unidentified suspect into custody that had outstanding warrants. However, police say they believe the suspect is not connected to the earlier 911 call near Newman Hall.

Troy University police say while they are continuing to investigate the incident, they believe there is no active threat to the campus.

Since the incident, the lock-down has been lifted.

The Troy Police Department and ALEA assisted at the scene.
