Cookin’ on the Coosa MacDown: Mac & Cheese Cook-Off returns to Wetumpka
The cheesiest showdown was back Saturday on the Coosa River. The 2024 Cookin’ on the Coosa Macdown: Mac & Cheese Cook-Off returned this year to downtown Wetumpka. This is an annual fundraiser for the Family Sunshine Center, and guests were able to sample melty, gooey, and utterly delicious mac & cheese creations prepared by professionals, amateurs, and young chefs. The family outing was filled with live music, games, and all the mac and cheese you could eat.
Mikala McCurry is a Junior Board Member at the Family Sunshine Center. “It’s a fundraiser for us to raise awareness about the family sunshine center and what they do and also the junior board. If there are young professionals who are interested in helping the family sunshine center with their mission is to just bring people out and have some really good Mac and cheese,” said McCurry.
“Having the community come out and support this event, it really means the world to us. One way that we are able to grow and provide our services is through community support and also through people knowing that we exist,” said Taye Knight, Executive Director of The Family Sunshine Center.
