Mainly sunny, dry, less humid this week while Milton stays south
Monday was a very warm and mostly sunny day. High temperatures were in the upper 80s to low 90s. A cold front pushed into central Alabama Monday afternoon. The front moves south of our area Monday night. Slightly cooler air arrives behind the front. Low temperatures range from the upper 50s to low 60s Monday night with a clear sky.
Temperatures trend cooler and more fall-like for the rest of the week. Although, high temperatures still range from the mid to upper 80s Tuesday. The sky remains mostly sunny. Wednesday looks mostly sunny with highs in the mid 80s. The rest of the week looks even cooler, with highs in the lower 80s Thursday and Friday despite abundant sunshine. Lows fall into the 50s each night Wednesday through this weekend.
Milton rapidly intensified between Sunday morning and Monday afternoon. At 4PM Monday, sustained winds were at 180 mph, in excess of category 5 hurricane strength. The National Hurricane Center calls for Milton to turn northeast Tuesday en route to the central Florida coast Wednesday night. Winds speeds may decrease some by then, but the storm likely remains a major hurricane at landfall. Still looks like Alabama receives no direct impacts.
