Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey has announced his retirement.

An invitation has been sent out for his retirement reception, which is scheduled for Tuesday at First Baptist Church.

Bailey became district attorney in 2014 upon the retirement of then-district attorney Ellen Brooks. Gov. Robert Bentley named him to the position. He was later elected and re-elected.

Action 8 News has reached out to the Office of Gov. Kay Ivey. We were told she is aware of his retirement and is prepared to name his replacement.
