Faulkner football hunts for homecoming win vs. Cumberlands

Faulkner football looked to grab a homecoming win as it hosted the University of the Cumberlands Patriots (5-2, 2-1 Mid-South Conference) on Saturday. The Faulkner Eagles also hoped to grab their first Mid-South Conference win.

Led by wide receiver-convert, quarterback Duece Marshall, the Eagles (2-5, 0-3 MSC) never trailed until the final two minutes of the game.

Following an acrobatic Zach Tucker 30-yard reception in the fourth quarter, Marshall ran the ball in for a touchdown. The went up 21-14. However, the Patriots from Kentucky scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes to win 26-21.

Marshall finished 14-31 for 160 yards. He also rushed for 84 yards. La’Derrick Bell led the Eagles in receiving with five receptions for 89 yards.

There were 2,673 fans in attendance.
