Troy police have arrested two men in a copper theft investigation.

Police say $15,000 worth of copper was stolen from a business in the 100 block of U.S. Highway 231 North. Police launched their investigation last Thursday, but say the theft had happened over several weeks.

The following night at about 11PM, police say the suspects had returned to the scene.  They say one man was arrested after a short foot chase while the other was apprehended using a drone.

The suspects are identified as 25-year-old Derron Lee Newman and 57-year-old Coley Christopher Grace, both of Troy.

Police say Grace faces charges of theft of property in the first degree, while Newman is charged with both theft of property in the first degree and attempting to elude law enforcement.

Both were taken to the Pike County Jail. Grace’s bond is set at $20,000, and Newman’s bond is set at $11,000.
