SAVING SELMA: Tornado recovery efforts continue
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
The city of Selma is still picking up the pieces — after the devastating tornado that ripped through the city nearly two years ago.
The long road to recovery continues in the city — after the devastation caused by an EF-2 tornado — back in January of 2023.
City crews are still demolishing and cleaning up houses damaged during the storm.
And the effort to rebuild neighborhoods destroyed by the tornado — is also making progress.
“Major progress. Major progress from where we came from and I know we’re going to keep pushing forward. It’s going to be, I think it’s going to be wonderful,” said Selma resident Michael Peterson.
“And they doing a good job. Good job,” said Selma resident Henry Gray.
“It’s making Selma look like it’s supposed to be looking. When I come through here I be wanting to get me one.”
The January 12th tornado — destroyed about a third of the historic city.
