Local chefs compete at 8th annual East Family YMCA Wing Festival
The grills were fired up and cooking just about every type of chicken wing you could imagine in Montgomery on Saturday. The 8th annual East Family YMCA Wing Festival brought all types of chefs together to show off their skills and compete to try to create the best tasting wings.
It was a fun way for families to get out and about and sample the delicious food, while children had a chance to play lawn games like corn hole and jump around in bounce houses. All the money raised today will help fund programs at the East Family YMCA on Pelzer Avenue. Organizers say it it was fun to watch the grill teams compete for bragging rights.
Wing Festival Chairman Justin Castanza said, “We want to be able to offer those services to the community. And not everybody has the funding available at home right now. Some families are struggling and the “Y” doesn’t want that to be a barrier for entry, and so the funds that we raise today almost $30,000 are going to support the children, the youth, the adults, and even the seniors in this area.”
