Opelika man arrested in death of wife now charged with murder
An Opelika man arrested earlier this year in the death of his wife has now been charged with murder.
Police say 54-year-old Spencer Tracy Bell was charged in February with elder abuse and neglect, as well as, domestic violence.
According to court documents obtained by Action 8 News, a Lee County Grand Jury has now indicted Bell on a felony murder charge.
Police say they got a rescue call on February 6 concerning a 68-year-old woman who was unresponsive at a location in the 2600 block of Frederick Road. She was taken to East Alabama Medical Center, but died two days later.
Spencer Tracy Bell is currently in the Lee County Detention Facility.
