A Severe Storm Threat On Thanksgiving Day

We’re inching closer to the holiday period and we have another round of rain set to move through here.  There’s even a severe storm threat that will accompany this round.  Once the rain clears out, we’re bracing for some of the coldest air so far this fall to move into the area.  Better start looking for those thicker coats before the upcoming weekend!

We will be in between weather systems Wednesday. Looks like a partly sunny sky with temps warming nicely into the lower to mid 70s by the afternoon.   The next frontal boundary will be advancing eastward that night and we’re expecting showers and t-storms to move through late night Wednesday into Thursday.  Some of the storms could be strong to possibly severe! The main threats will be damaging winds up to 60 mph, quarter size hail, and brief isolated tornadoes.  Temps ahead of the front will still manage to warm and afternoon highs will reach the lower 70s.

Friday through the weekend will look and feel a lot different.  Yes, there will be abundant sunshine but the air mass behind the front will have an Arctic connection to it.  Despite the sunshine, high temps will only manage lower to mid 50s while overnight lows will hover around freezing for several days.  The blast of cold air will stick around well into that following work week.
