Company to build $30 million data center in Montgomery
An Atlanta-based company has announced plans to build a $30 million data center in Montgomery.
DC BLOX plans to build the center in Interstate Industrial Park, according to the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
The data center will deliver 5MW of capacity for a hyperscale anchor tenant, with the potential to scale up to 40MW for additional tenants. Hyperscale data centers often support big data-producing companies like Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and others.
The center in Montgomery will join two other sites in Huntsville and North Augusta, South Carolina as DC BLOX expands in the Southeast.
“Our continued expansion is a testament to the soundness of our strategy and our deep understanding of the Southeastern market,” Jeff Uphues, CEO of DC BLOX said. “With each new site, we are building critical digital infrastructure that enables hyperscale companies to operate at the edge while benefiting from the Southeast’s favorable economics and rapid growth.”
“This landmark investment validates Montgomery’s emergence as a dynamic technology corridor and showcases our team’s successful strategy to attract transformative digital infrastructure,” Montgomery Chamber President and CEO Anna Buckalew said. “Through strategic partnerships with city, county and state leaders, we’ve created an environment where technology companies thrive. DC BLOX’s decision to invest here signals to the global tech sector that Montgomery is ready to power their future growth.”
DC BLOX is a digital infrastructure provider in the Southeast that delivers integrated data center and fiber network solutions at scale to enable hyperscalers, enterprises, communications providers and technology companies to offer enhanced digital services to their customers and accelerate the region’s economic growth.
DC BLOX’s data centers are located in Atlanta, Birmingham, Huntsville, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Greenville, South Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with several others in development.
