Showers & Storms Then Turning Much Colder!
We’re into the holiday period and we have two weather features set to impact our weather. The first is a round of showers and storms and the second a blast of Arctic air! There’s a severe storms threat with a frontal boundary moving through the state and once the rain clears out, we’re bracing for some of the coldest air so far this fall to move into the area. Better start looking for those thicker coats before the upcoming weekend!
A frontal boundary will be advancing eastward today. We’re tracking a narrow line of showers and t-storms this morning. Some of the storms could be strong to possibly severe! The main threats will be damaging winds up to 60 mph, quarter size hail, and brief isolated tornadoes. Temps ahead of the front will still manage to warm and reach the mid to upper 60s through noon today. Once on the backside of the front, temps will begin to fall during the afternoon.
Friday through the weekend will look and feel a lot different. Yes, there will be abundant sunshine but the air mass behind the front will have an Arctic connection to it. Despite the sunshine, high temps will only manage lower to mid 50s while overnight lows will hover around freezing for several days. The blast of cold air will stick around well into that following work week.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
