Thanksgiving meals are given out thanks to caring folks in Montgomery
The Salvation Army picked up meals from Montgomery Catholic School to deliver to people in need on Thanksgiving morning.
Organizers at At Montgomery Catholic school said students and families put together more than 200 meals out of the donated food. The Thanksgiving meal consisted of turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes and other goodies including cakes and pies for dessert.
“We received all donations from the city of Montgomery and the surrounding areas everything that came in was actually a donation and we are grateful for that from those donations we were able to make over 100 plates close to 200 plates to go out to the homeless we’re going out looking for those that are sleeping under the bridges and vacant buildings in Alleyways to serve them to show them that on Thanksgiving day that they are thought of,” Sherry Williams, the coordinator for the Salvation Army in Montgomery told Action 8 News.
“For our part, we had about 30 to 40 people — 21 students and families as well — where we put together over 200 desserts, cut and plate and package them, and then prepare them for today and then we had some of those students come back today to help as well,” Rick Aaron of Montgomery Catholic School said.
