Small businesses offer big deals to Black Friday shoppers in Selma

Big box retail stores aren’t the only places where Black Friday shoppers — are finding big savings and great deals.

Shopping for Black Friday deals is a Thanksgiving holiday tradition — that kicks off the Christmas holiday shopping season.

Tina Dorius of Montevallo made a trip to Selma to check out the Black Friday deals — at Queen City Market.

“It’s Black Friday. I’m with my best friend. She has a whole itinerary planned for us today. And Our first stop was this boutique,” said Dorius.

Queen City Market — features a variety of one of a kind — high quality apparel and home furnishings.

“You can do your clothes shopping, shoes, accessories. And then you can get pillows, paintings, whatever you need for your house,” said Amy Carmichael.Waka Selmablackfriday1129 Pkg

“We understand that people want things that not everybody else has. We work really hard to try to find the newer things that you can’t get around this area,” said owner Mandy Henry.

“We’ve got a little bit of everything to offer here. If you’re looking for that special gift, or you’re just looking for something special for an event, come to Queen City. We’ll help you.”

Small businesses make up over 99% of all businesses in the state.

Governor Kay Ivey has proclaimed the day after Black Friday — as Small Business Saturday.

And she’s encouraging people to shop locally during the holiday season.
