A large fire burned a vacant three-story hotel on Carmichael Road in Montgomery late this afternoon.

The fire heavily damaged the old Country Inn and Suites. It was reported shortly after 5PM and was declared a 2-alarm fire.

Firefighters on the ground and on ladders fought the fire. Rescuers found no people inside. No firefighters were hurt.

Investigators are now trying to determine how the fire started.
