Security guard at Elmore Correctional Facility arrested

A security guard at Elmore Correctional Facility has been arrested on drug charges, according to state prison officials.

The Alabama Department of Corrections says agents, K9 units and other officials arrested Alesia Jarrett on charges related to narcotics trafficking. 

ADOC says Jarett, who was under investigation for suspected drug smuggling into the prison, was found in  possession of approximately 250 grams of methamphetamine. Jarett faces charges including conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, use of position for personal gain and promoting prison contraband  in the 2nd degree. 

She was taken to the Elmore County Jail.
