Three men face drug charges in Tallapoosa County

Three men face drug trafficking and distribution charges in Tallapoosa County, according to the sheriff’s office.

In the past month, the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force says it executed search warrants at homes in both Jacksons Gap and Alexander City. They say the search warrants were the result of narcotic investigations that included surveillance, interviews and multiple controlled buys throughout the last 12 months.

During the search warrants, agents say they recovered approximately 20 grams of Hydrocodone pills, 10 grams of powder cocaine, 1 gram of crack cocaine, 1,037 grams of marijuana, 18 marijuana plants, 12 guns, assorted U.S. currency, two pickup trucks and an SUV.

Investigators say the following men were charged in the case:

53-year-old Michael Heard of Jacksons Gap: Arrested and charged with five counts unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, trafficking of hydrocodone, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, illegal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana 1st degree, possession of drug paraphernalia.

38-year-old Peter Owens of Camp Hill: Arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance 1st degree, possession of marijuana 1st degree, illegal possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

51-year-old Vincequella Johnson of Alexander City: Arrested and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance 1st degree, illegal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana 1st degree, possession of drug paraphernalia and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.

The sheriff’s office says additional arrests are expected as the investigation into the possession and distribution of illegal narcotics is ongoing in Tallapoosa County.
