Man killed in wreck on Interstate 65 in Butler County

A man has been killed in a wreck between an SUV and a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate 65 in Butler County.

Alabama State Troopers say 77-year-old Robert M. Thomas of Pensacola, Florida, was killed when the SUV he was riding in hit the back of the tractor-trailer truck, driven by 38-year-old Jose Manuel Valin Cano of Miami Gardens, Florida.

State troopers say Thomas was thrown out of the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, 75-year-old Gail A. Thomas of Pensacola, was injured and taken to Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama in Greenville for treatment.

Cano was also injured and transported to Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama.

The crash happened at about 4:50PM Saturday, about four miles south of Greenville.
