Man charged with killing father in Opelika

Opelika police have charged a man with shooting and killing his father.

Police say 23-year-old Marquet Devon Turk, Jr., is charged with murder in the death of 43-year-old Marquet Devon Turk, Sr.

Police say at about 12:35PM yesterday, they were called to the Woodbend Apartments on Waverly Parkway. That’s where they found the father with gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving measures, he died at the scene.

The son was arrested in Montgomery, police say. He is being held in the Lee County Jail.
