Bobby Carr introduced as Prattville football coach

Longtime coach Bobby Carr was introduced as Prattville High School's new football coach after one year at Carver.

Prattville High School introduced Bobby Carr as its new football coach on Thursday, with Carr saying he can quickly bring Prattville back to being a state title contender.

Carr previously coached at Carver High School for one year after a long career in AISA football. He said accepting the Prattville job was an emotional decision, particularly because it’s where his father once played quarterback.

“It was a tough decision,” Carr said. “Those kids at Carver had my heart and if it wouldn’t have been for Prattville, me being from this area, I’d have probably stayed where I was. But I just couldn’t say no to Prattville and my hometown.”

Prattville athletic director Blake Boren believes Carr can help the Lions return to their championship form. The program won four state titles during its peak in the mid-2000s.

“Anybody that knows anything about football in this area knows about Bobby Carr,” Boren said. “Somebody who’s been a coach 27 years now, 71-game win streak at Edgewood. Multiple state championships, I think it’s a little bit deeper than that. I think for us, we think he’s the right fit for our program, we think he’s the right fit for our kids.”

Carr described the Prattville coaching position as a “premier job” and emphasized his commitment to excellence.
