Murals at National Voting Rights Museum defaced and vandalized

The National Voting Rights Museum in Selma is vandalized over the weekend.

And now a police investigation is underway to try and find the culprit.

Waka Nvrmvandalized1217 VoSomeone went on the grounds of the museum — and splashed black paint on two of the murals.

The Selma Police Department is looking into the incident.

Investigators are scouring through surveillance video searching for leads.

Selma attorney and activist Faya Rose Toure is one of the co-founders of the museum.

“I think this is a hate crime. These murals have been here for over two decades,” said Toure.

“Why would somebody at this point in time come and deface the museum’s structure?”
