Wilcox Co. Commission candidate contests November 5th election

A candidate for Wilcox County Commissioner is contesting the outcome of the November 5th election.

Waka Wccontest1218 VoArthur Broadnax of Pine Hill ran for the District 5 seat on the county commission — as an independent candidate.

Broadnax was defeated in the race — by incumbent Quarre Calhoun.

According to court documents — Broadnax is claiming that Calhoun engaged in fraudulent activities to get votes. Some of the activities include — the fraudulent use of absentee ballots — and registering people without their permission.

Calhoun denied the accusations in a response from his attorney.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Marvin Wiggins.

A court date for the case — has not yet been set.
