Montgomery police hold Citizens Police Academy geared towards the Hispanic community
The Montgomery Police Department has expanded its Citizens Police Academy program to members of the Hispanic community.
The initiative is aimed to help community members understand how the law works and how the police department works.
Some of the topics covered include the differences between criminal and constitutional law, and learning about their rights and the services offered from Montgomery police or other sources.
Officials hope the program will help bridge the gap between law enforcement and members of the Hispanic population.
The 10-week program started in November with the participants graduating in late January.
If you would like to join the Citizens Police Academy, you are asked to email Lt. Willie Stewart at wstewart@montgomeryal.gov.
