From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Two Fort Deposit men are behind bars tonight — charged with that city’s first and only homicide of 2024.
Authorities say 22 year old Ja’Darrius Darnell McPherson — and 18 year old Joseph Jerrell Williams — are behind bars tonight –facing charges of felony murder.
The men are accused in the shooting death of 22 year old Frank Crenshaw of Fort Deposit.
Crenshaw was shot and killed Monday during an attempted car-jacking.
“They were on foot and this is what I would classify as a crime of opportunity,” said LCSO Investigator Tony Green.
“The deceased was merely driving up the street. He was doing nothing. He was not involved with anyone. They saw his car. They wanted his car. And they attempted to take his car.”
Green says the shooting remains under investigation.
