Butler County EMA Offers Safe, Warm Shelter to Anyone in Need During Frigid Weather

Those without sufficient shelter could be at risk to cold weather related deaths and illnesses. According to Alabama public Health nearly 20 people die from hypothermia in Alabama per year and the first line of defense against cold weather related illnesses and death is keeping warm.

That’s why the Butler County Emergency Management Agency hopes to help anyone in the county who may be in need of a safe warm place. The agency teams up the Ministerial Association in partnership with a local hotel to ensure that anyone who is either a resident of Butler County or who may be passing through has a safe place away from frigid weather conditions.
