Five finalists named in Selma City Schools superintendent search
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
The Selma City School Board is a step closer to finding a new permanent superintendent to lead the school district.
The top five finalists from a nationwide superintendent search — were presented to school board — Tuesday night.
They include — Dr. Elgin Dixon of Dublin, GA — Dr. Titus Hines of Hattiesburg, MS — Dr. David Scott of Tuscaloosa, AL — Dr. Davion Lewis of South Bend, IN — and Taurus Smith of Selma.
“We knew that raising student achievement and building relationships with the community were two of the priorities of the board, and of parents and teachers in the system,” said search consultant Susan Salter.
“So, we looked at who would be the best match for those. And that’s how we narrowed it to the five finalists.”
The board will begin interviewing the finalists — next week.
And a new superintendent could be in place by February.
