A Wintry Mix For Some Friday Morning!
We have Arctic air flowing southward into the state and tonight will be one of the coldest nights so far this winter. We’re expecting lower to mid 20s for overnight lows. This will make the start to Thursday a little rough but abundant sunshine is in store for the rest of the day and temps manage the lower to mid 40s for highs.
We shift our focus towards the wintry precipitation threat Thursday night into early Friday morning. An area of low pressure will move along the northern gulf coast region Friday. This disturbance will send gulf moisture streaming into the state beginning Thursday night and continuing throughout Friday. Our temps will be hovering around the freezing mark initially Friday morning. This would allow for a potential wintry mix for some. We expect that to be the case for areas along and north of the US-80/I-85 corridor. Looks like there will be several hours where a wintry mix of rain/snow/sleet/freezing rain become a threat. We could experience some travel issues. The main threat would be to bridges and overpasses. This will be something we keep an eye on early Friday morning. The rest of our area will be dealing with mainly a cold rain.
The upcoming weekend will be trending better weatherwise. High pressure takes over and we’re back to sunny and dry conditions. Daytime temps will manage the mid to upper 40s while overnight temps hover between 25 to 30 degrees.
