Selma police now using SkyCop camera system to help monitor city

From the Action 8 West Alabama Newsroom: The Selma Police Department now has more eyes watching over the Queen City after recently installing over a dozen new SkyCop cameras.

Waka Skycop0108 Fox PkgSkyCop is a remote, self-contained video camera security system.

It’s designed to help police deter, investigate and solve crimes.

Fourteen new SkyCop units have been strategically installed at various locations around the city.

“Theses cameras have some great technology features about them,” Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford told Action 8 News.

“We can put in a black vehicle or blue vehicle within a certain time, and once we input that information, it will pull up every black or blue vehicle that passed through by that camera, and give us time location, tag number and all.”

Selma-based Selcom, LLC, installed the SkyCop system and has a five-year contract with the city to provide maintenance.
