Very cold temperatures continue, a rain/snow mix for some Friday
Very cold temperatures continue across central and south Alabama, even by early January standards. Despite sunshine, temperatures only warm into the 40s Wednesday. Wednesday night lows fall into the low to mid 20s. Thursday’s high temperatures range from the mid to upper 40s. Thursday begins mainly sunny, but clouds increase late. Rain and perhaps frozen precipitation arrives late Thursday night.
Friday’s weather setup looks tricky for our area, as winter weather events in the south often are. For some of us, mainly south of I-85 and highway 80, it looks like mainly cold rain throughout the day. Near and north of there, precipitation may fall as a rain/snow mix, at least during the morning. It looks like precipitation becomes all rain as temperatures warm by the afternoon. It departs our area Friday evening, while clouds linger.
The weekend looks dry but cold. Saturday may remain mostly cloudy, but Sunday looks mostly sunny. Temperatures remain in the 40s Saturday, but may warm into the low 50s Sunday. The first few days of next week look dry with sunshine. Temperatures remain cool, but more seasonably so with highs in the low to mid 50s and lows in the low to mid 30s.
