We Dry Out This Weekend But There’s More Rain Ahead
The winter storm system continues to move eastward and away from our area. High pressure is building in behind the departing system. This will allow us to dry out over the weekend. We expect the clouds to be a bit stubborn and slow to leave Saturday but Sunday is looking a lot brighter and temps will try to warm a little. We could see lower to mid 50s for highs Sunday afternoon.
Another frontal system will approach the state late Sunday night into Monday. We see an area of low pressure developing over the gulf on the southern end of the frontal boundary. This disturbance will send gulf moisture into the state once again. All indications are the temps will be above freezing when the moisture arrives early Monday morning. It will require some monitoring but at this point we don’t see it as a wintry precipitation threat.
Once we’re past the rain on Monday, the rest of the week is looking mainly sunny and dry. It will continue to be cold with highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s/30s. Another frontal system will possibly rain will head into the area that following weekend. We continue to see signs that this rather cold weather pattern sticks around for the next couple of weeks.
