Four-year-old dies after Covington County crash that injured four others
A four-year-old child has died and four other people have been injured in a two-vehicle crash in Covington County.
Alabama State Troopers say the child was rising in a small SUV that was involved in a wreck with a pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old.
The four-year-old was flown to a hospital where the child was pronounced dead. The child’s name hasn’t been released.
Investigators say the 18-year-old pickup truck driver was not using a seat belt and was also injured. That person was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver’s name hasn’t been released.
The driver of the SUV, 34-year-old Catherine Grace Nixon of Andalusia, was flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, for treatment. Two other children who were also in the SUV, who are five years old and four years old, were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The crash happened at about 5:22PM yesterday on Alabama Highway 55, about seven miles north of Red Level.
