MA’s Julie Gordon named NFHS National Coach of the Year
Longtime Montgomery Academy volleyball coach Julie Gordon, who recently announced her retirement, has been named the National Federation of High School Coaches Association National Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Gordon’s boasts a 1,624-436 win-loss record over her career, ranking her second among active coaches nationally. During her 46 years as head coach, she led Montgomery Academy to eight state championships. She earned induction into the Alabama High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2013.
“This has been an incredible journey,” Gordon said. “I don’t remember the state championships because of the wins. I treasure them because of the girls who played on those teams, the relationships we had and the memories we shared together.”
The NFHS award recognizes Gordon as the top high school volleyball coach in the nation as she caps off her remarkable career.
