Auburn woman charged with animal cruelty
An Auburn woman faces a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Police say they arrested 18-year-old Taylor Michelle Colbert today.
Police say they got an animal cruelty complaint near the 1100 block of Opelika Road on Jan. 5. Police say they were told of a deceased household animal. Auburn Animal Control responded, and an investigation was started by Auburn Police and Animal Control, police say.
During the investigation, police say evidence showed the death of the animal happened in conditions that were in violation of state law.
An arrest warrant was obtained, and police say Colbert turned herself in. She was taken to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.
