We’re Warming Up A Bit This Week

We continue to see our area drying out and warming up just a bit this week.  Temperatures will actually hover near the averages for January.  We need to enjoy while it last because there’s rain and eventually more Arctic air on the way!

In the meantime, it’s going to be rather quiet weatherwise over the next several days. High pressure will be the main weather feature overhead.  We expect mainly sunny days and mostly clear nights.  Daytime highs will manage the upper 50s to lower 60s while overnight lows drop into the lower 30s.

There are changes ahead for the upcoming weekend.  Another frontal boundary moves into the deep south. This system will bring rain into the area Saturday.  Rainfall potential will range between .50 to 1 inch. The disturbance moves eastward Sunday but moisture will linger and we could still have showers around through Monday. High pressure builds southward behind the rain maker. Arctic air will accompany the high and we’re back into the deep freeze again for most of next week.  Highs will only manage the 40s and overnight temps plunge into the 20s. Model data is showing another area of low pressure developing in the gulf. It is possible that we have a wintry precipitation threat lurking for Tuesday of next week. It’s too early for specifics but definitely we’re watching closely.
