Rain On The Way And Then Turning Sharply Colder!
Our milder January high temps continue for two more days. Temperatures will manage the lower to mid 60s Friday and Saturday. We could even see mid to upper 60s Saturday. You will need to enjoy the warmth while it last because there’s more Arctic air on the way and this round will be colder than the last one!
In the meantime, it’s going to be rather quiet weatherwise through Friday afternoon. High pressure will be the main weather feature overhead. We expect mainly sunshine through midday and then clouds increase during the afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the lower to mid 60s for highs Friday afternoon. Temps only drop into the 40s overnight into early Saturday morning.
There are changes ahead for the upcoming weekend. Another frontal boundary moves into the deep south. This system will bring rain into the area Saturday. Rainfall potential will range between .50 to 1 inch. The disturbance moves eastward and we’re expecting gradual clearing Sunday afternoon. High pressure builds southward behind the rain maker. We expect dry and much colder conditions Sunday into Monday. The temps will drop all day Sunday and it will be rather windy as well. We will go from the 40s and quickly drop into the 30s through the evening. The gusty winds will produce much colder wind chills. It’s a return to the deep freeze and it will be awfully cold heading into early next week.
It’s the return of Arctic air and this round will be even cold than the last! Highs will only manage the upper 30s to lower 40s and overnight temps plunge into the upper teens to lower 20s. Gusty northwest winds will make it feel even colder with wind chill temps in the teens and single digits! Model data (European) is showing another area of low pressure developing in the gulf. It is possible that we have a wintry precipitation threat lurking for Tuesday and maybe lingering into early Wednesday. The latest run of the American model (GFS) has dropped the wintry precipitation idea and keeps us just cold and dry Tuesday/Wednesday. It does show more precipitation possible around Thursday. Indications are this round would be a cold rain for us. There’s still a lot of uncertainty and we’re watching everything very closely.
