ACTION 8 UPDATE: Bond denied for man charged with sexually abusing baby daughter
ACTION 8 UDPATE: Bond has been denied for the man who was charged with sexually abusing his three-month-old baby daughter in Troy.
As Action 8 News has reported, Troy police charged 22-year-old Kesean Wilmore with rape in the first degree, sodomy in the first degree, incest and child abuse involving the infant.
Police say on January 10, officers responded to a report at the Troy Regional Medical Center Emergency Room. Police say the injuries were so significant that the baby was transferred to Gainesville, Florida, to be treated by a pediatric surgeon. She underwent a three and-a-half hour surgery and could suffer lifelong side effects, police say.
Police say the baby also had suffered several broken ribs that were in the process of healing, which is why Wilmore was charged with child abuse in addition to the other charges.
On January 16, Wilmore appeared before District Judge Steven Curtis for an Aniah’s Law hearing to determine if he would receive bond, which was denied.
“This case is probably the most upsetting and unsettling case that I’ve seen during my legal career to include a decade in criminal defense and now two years as district attorney,” District Attorney James Tarbox said.
“Seeing someone so innocent and wholly dependent on her parents hurt like this is infuriating. This case is absolutely vile and disgusting. While this case is far from over, I will sleep much better tonight knowing this defendant is not out on our streets with the ability to victimize anyone else. Our office will work tirelessly to convict this defendant and get justice in this matter.”
