9th annual Polar Plunge at Lake Martin raises money to make the lake safer
People from all over braved the chilly weather to take a plunge in Lake Martin and help make the lake safer. Hundreds of people gathered for the 2025 Polar Plunge, and they cheered on friends and family members as they jumped in the cold lake.
This is the 9th year for the plunge, and all proceeds for the event benefit the Lake Martin Resource Association to help light up the lake. The organization places lights on top of buoys in the water, so boaters can see hazards at night and avoid them. Various categories included a costume contest, the three minute polar plunge, and swimming to a buoy and back to try to win a cash prize.
The event was sponsored by the Lake Martin Young Professionals. After the polar plunge, guests were able to enjoy food trucks and live music at Kowaliga.
