Roof of Mobile Civic Center collapses

The snow-covered roof of the Mobile Civic Center has collapsed.

The roof collapsed this morning. Mobile had recorded a record-setting snowfall of more than six inches yesterday.

The city of Mobile was in the process of demolishing the civic center. Work on that project began last September.

A city spokesperson said the roof collapsed in the same way it was designed to fall during demolition.

No one was hurt.
